Prime Minister of Cape Verde goes to Morocco
Today, I begin an official visit to the Kingdom of Morocco, at the invitation of the Moroccan Head of Government. This visit constitutes an important milestone in relations between the two countries and will be marked by the holding of the 2nd Cape Verde-Morocco Joint Commission, in Rabat, from May 8 to 10, under the theme “Building a New Era of Cooperation and Strategic and Pragmatic Partnership between Cape Verde and Morocco”.
Today, I begin an official visit to the Kingdom of Morocco, at the invitation of the Moroccan Head of Government. This visit constitutes an important milestone in relations between the two countries and will be marked by the holding of the 2nd Cape Verde-Morocco Joint Commission, in Rabat, from May 8 to 10, under the theme “Building a New Era of Cooperation and Strategic and Pragmatic Partnership between Cape Verde and Morocco”.
The visit takes place at a special moment in relations between Cape Verde and Morocco, with the formalization of recognition of the territorial integrity of the Kingdom of Morocco by Cape Verde, among other initiatives that reinforce the political and diplomatic base for exploring and developing cooperation between the two nations. The opening of the Diplomatic and Consular Missions of Cape Verde - Embassy in Rabat and Consulate in Dakhla - attests to a new era of cooperation between Cape Verde and Morocco, paving the way for the strengthening and dynamization of existing cooperation and its diversification, as well as greater political dialogue and diplomatic at the highest level, in a more pragmatic way and from a perspective of mutual gains, namely in economic and decentralized cooperation, in facilitating exchanges, mutual knowledge, as well as cooperation at regional and south-south level.
Important agreements will be signed at the Cape Verde / Morocco Joint Commission, in the areas of investment protection, double taxation and tax evasion, commercial cooperation, Youth and Women, housing and Durable Urban Development, allocation of academic scholarships, internships and knowledge sharing , professional training, Energy and Mines.
I will preside over the opening of the Cape Verde/Morocco Business Forum, where an agreement will be signed between the Superior Council of Chambers of Commerce and Tourism of CV and the General Confederation of Moroccan Companies.
I lead an important delegation composed of Members of the Government, President of the Association of Municipalities of Cabo Verde, Rector of the University of Cabo Verde, President of Cabo Verde TradeInvest, Administrator of the Cabo Verde Tourism Institute and the President of the Superior Council of Chambers of Commerce .
The Delegation is based on the subjects that should be dealt with during the Joint Commission, such as the Blue Economy, Tourism, Education/Higher Education and Vocational Technical Training, Energy and Water, Health, Agriculture, Culture, Internal Administration, Health, Transport (air and maritime), in addition to Institutional and Technical cooperation; Economic-Business, Private Sector and Investments and Decentralized Cooperation.
On the agenda, the bilateral meeting with my counterpart from Morocco, visits to some companies and institutions and a meeting with the Cape Verdean Community in Morocco stand out.
